Steps to PCS

Pet Info

• Ensure pet information is annotated on the port-call request.
• Limited pet travel varies per airline
• Members are responsible to pay for their pet's travel.
• Destinations and weight restrictions vary by airlines. 
  • Weight usually not to exceed 100-150 lbs including cage.
• SATO will annotate remarks about your pet, however the member is responsible for verification.
• Ensure vet releases authorization for pet travel.

Pet Travel

• Make pet's wellness appointment within 10 days of departure
  • Request 2 copies of pet's health records and health certificates with actual signatures.
• Pet kennel must be US Dept of Agriculture (USDA) approved.
  • Consult with airline customer service.
• Shop around for pet travel fares.
• Pets are NOT an entitlement.

Apollos Aid 

SPCA International PCS support is designed to help military members that have exhausted all options for paying to relocate their pets. 

Space Available pet travel

• PCS Orders REQUIRED
• Power of Attorney (other than member)
• Visit nearest AMC Terminal
• DOD regulations limit pet shipment to passengers in PCS status only. If you have a third pet, contact your transportation office 15 days prior to your AMC flight departure to determine if any spaces are available.
