Hello and welcome to the Republic of Korea (South Korea)!

 

South Korea is located in Eastern Asia and divided into 9 provinces.

Although Korea has been conquered by many other countries 

it has maintained its history and culture for 5000 years.

The highest mountain, Halla-san, is located on Jeju Island and

is a dormant shield volcano with Hallasan National Park surrounding it.

Koreans, both North and South, speak and write the Hangeul or Hangul language.

Taekwondo is the national sport of South Korea and 

                                      literally means “the way of the fist and foot.”

As stated before, South Korea’s national dish is kimchi! 

There are many of varieties of kimchi made of different combinations 

of vegetables and spices that are left to ferment for months. 

Traditionally, this fermentation process happened underground.

Nowadays, kimchi refrigerators are more commonly used.

One of the best parts of going to another country is sampling the food and

Korea has many unique options to try!

Did you know that spoons are used to eat rice, soup and stew only? 

Otherwise metal chopsticks are used.
